The extensive complex consists of a unique mix of a 5-star wellness hotel with a Huus Löwen (4 stars) and a Huus Bären (3 stars), upscale and Appenzell speciality restaurants, condominiums, holiday flats and serviced living, offering a rich mix for diverse needs. In the construction method, special emphasis is placed on sustainability and traditional craftsmanship. Thanks to modern solar panels on all roofs and a geothermal probe heating system, ancillary costs are low.

The result is a bustling recreational destination with a diverse audience. Visitors can find deep relaxation in the 5-star wellness area, which covers over 2000 square metres and offers holistic diagnostics and treatments. All the houses are individually designed. Through the uniform design language and materialisation, they form a unit and fit seamlessly into the appearance of the village.

Local and natural materials for sustainable construction

All houses are built in the traditional Appenzell knit construction method, with solid wood and natural stone from the region, in order to reduce transport routes and primary energy requirements to a minimum. The wood is processed into 12 cm thick "planks" in a local joinery directly in Gonten using special machines. Thus, the load-bearing structure is erected in this centuries-old solid knit construction method, using neither glue nor metal.

During construction, "moon wood" is used, which is only felled at a specific time during the moon phase. This makes it more weather-resistant, durable and dimensionally stable.
